Five years ago today, our lives were forever changed for the better when the smartest, funniest, most beautiful little girl entered our lives. Happy Birthday Mikayla! This morning, I woke up Mikayla singing "Happy Birthday" to her. She was still tired when she woke up, so she really just wanted to go back to sleep. When we all got dressed for school, we stopped by the grocery store to buy cupcakes for Mikayla to take with her to school. Then, we went to the Donut Store to get donuts for breakfast.
After school, I picked up the girls, and Mikayla had chosen to go to Babe's Chicken for her birthday. Daddy Pat, SuSu, GiGi, Graunt Becky, Gruncle Mark, Uncle Buck, Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Ross were all there. Grandma had bought a couple of monkey cupcakes for Mikayla, so we put a "5" candle in it, and the waitresses sang "Happy Birthday" to Mikayla while she wore the chicken-head. She loved it.
These past five years have flown by, and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with you. You are my world, my everything, and I love you to the moon and back, to infinity and beyond, forever and ever!
We then had a "cow" themed party for her, playing off of her beloved Cow. I painted a cow for her, so it will sort of match Macey's lamb.
I'd also like to take this opportunity to share some Mikayla-isms from the past few weeks.
Mikayla absolutely loves telling jokes, and she always wants me to tell her new jokes. A couple days ago, Mikayla tells me a knock-knock joke. "Mommy, knock knock!" "Who's there?" I reply. "No," she answers. "No, who?" I ask. "No, I don't want to go to school today!" I love that kid; she cracks me up!
Last week, Mikayla had to have her check-up, complete with four shots. She told me that night that she wanted a doctor set with play needles to give her babies shots and those ear things to listen to their hearts. Then she says, "But if it costs too much, I don't want it. I know how you don't like to by expensive stuff." I couldn't stop laughing at her.
